Melissa Xiao

Architectural Graduate

Qualification: MArch (Hons)

Melissa was born and raised in China, where she initially pursued her passion for Urban Design at the Tianjin Academy of Fine Art. After two and a half years, her journey led her to the University of Auckland, where she delved into architectural studies, ultimately achieving a Master’s Degree with 1st class honours in September 2023.  Before joining us here at DLA, Melissa played a pivotal role in graphic design and portrait studio.

Melissa started at DLA in early March 2024, and she is eager to contribute her knowledge and creativity to our exciting range of projects. Passionate about the intersection of urban design and architecture, Melissa aims to create harmonious and joyful spaces that reflect the needs and desires of the communities we serve.

Outside of the studio, Melissa enjoys immersing herself in the local culture, exploring the landscape of south island , and capturing the essence of urban life through her sketches and camera. She is also an avid traveller, seeking inspiration from diverse architectural styles and cityscapes around the world. In her free time, Melissa loves practicing traditional Chinese calligraphy, staying active through hiking, and spending quality time with her friends and family.
